What Reflenn Is, and What It Is Built On
Last updated: August 2026
Reflenn is a small independent product, operated from Ukraine by the team that builds it. There is no clinic behind it and no practitioner on staff, and nothing on this site is published under a personal byline — because a byline on writing about attachment, avoidance and shadow implies a qualification, and that is a stronger claim than we can make. What follows is what we can say instead.
What a read actually is
You describe a repeating situation in your own words — not a questionnaire, not a set of options to pick from. That text is read through a bank of established psychological frameworks, and a language model writes the result back to you in the same language you wrote in. It works from what you said, which is why two people describing the same-sounding problem do not get the same read.
This is also why it is not a quiz. A quiz scores fixed answers and returns one of a fixed set of outcomes. There is nothing wrong with that format — it is simply not what this is, and the difference shows up most clearly in what the two can notice.
What it is built on
The traditions are ordinary ones and we name them where they are relevant: Jung’s idea of the shadow, described on the shadow work page, and attachment theory, described on the attachment page. The wider bank the engine reads through draws on established work of the same kind — patterns of defence, the gap between what a person intends and what they do, the difference between a trait and the sequence it produces.
Which frameworks a given piece of text is read through, and how they are compiled, is the product’s own work and stays private. We would rather say that plainly than publish a list that sounds more authoritative than it is.
What it is not
Reflenn is not therapy, not diagnosis, and not medical or mental-health advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional. It is not crisis support: if you are in crisis, or what surfaces involves trauma, self-harm, or a situation you cannot safely hold or leave, contact a local crisis line, emergency services, or a qualified professional. That is the right route, and no article or app replaces it. The full terms are on the Terms page.
Attachment language on this site is descriptive, not diagnostic. Style names describe patterns of behaviour, not fixed identities and not conditions.
How these pages are written
- Mechanisms are described in behavioural terms — what a person can observe in themselves — rather than as claims about the brain. Where a page would need neuroscience to be true, it says the behavioural version instead or does not say it.
- Where a term has an origin, we name the origin rather than treating it as evidence. Jung is where the word shadow comes from; that is a fact about the word, not proof of a mechanism.
- We do not cite studies we have not read, and we do not dress a framing up as a finding. If something is a useful way of looking at a problem rather than a measured result, it is written as one.
- Nothing here targets a diagnosis, promises healing, or tells you what you are.
Your writing, and what happens to it
What you write is used to generate your read and stored so you can return to it. It is never sold and never used for advertising. The full detail — including what we deliberately do not collect — is on the Privacy page.
